DeKalb County Juvenile Justice Council Accomplishments
• Provided 459 youth and their families with food, grocery gift cards, hygiene items, and snacks for after-school, and summer programs.
• Provided 200 uniforms and filled book bags to DeKalb County students.
• Partnered with DeKalb County Schools, fraternities, and the community to sponsor three Mentoring programs for youth 12-17.
• Provided laptops, hotspots, and service to youth without internet connectivity. Youth were able to take advantage of the court’s online GED program while working or participating in other programs.
• Provided Hygiene and PPE kits (masks, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, lotion, soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products, socks, and mouthwash)
• Provided support for DeKalb Juvenile Court programs in the forms of:
o Virtual platform for GED
o Prosocial events for youth
o Care baskets for youth who’ve experienced trauma
o Gift cards for youth transitioning out of foster care
o Support for families transitioning their children home from foster care
o Graduations for youth completing programs
o Toys for Toys for Tots
